My name is Adel and a U.S. drone killed my cousins Salem, Mohamed, Abdullah and Nasser on 29 March 2018 in Yemen. The strike left me disabled.
Life has never been the same since the day of the strike – my family and community lost the lives we knew and the people we loved. I’ve had six surgeries and I still cannot walk without assistance.
My two youngest daughters, Warda and Malak, stopped going to school in order to care for me: a guilt I live with every day.
My cousins were in the Yemeni army – allies of the U.S. in the ‘war on terror’. I was a civil servant in the Ministry of Population and Public Health. So why were we targeted to be killed?
We received the death penalty that day – one without charge or trial. My four cousins lost their lives, but I survived. But a year after I asked the U.S. Government why they targeted me and my family, they still haven’t provided any answers. I deserve to know why they sent a drone to kill me and my family.
Will you join me in asking the U.S. Government give me and my family the answers, accountability and redress we deserve? Please add your name >>>
