Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is visiting Saudi Arabia this month. This visit could take place any day now.

Sir Keir Starmer will arrive in the midst of a death penalty crisis in Saudi Arabia. More than 300 people have been executed this year, making 2024 by far the bloodiest year in the Kingdom’s modern history.

We are calling on the Prime Minister to publicly raise the cases of child defendants Abdullah al-Derazi and Abdullah al-Howaiti when he meets with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Both have been sentenced to death for offences allegedly committed when they were still children. Both have been subjected to brutal torture, which was used to secure false confessions that were later used against them in court.
