United Arab Emirates: Don’t send Ravil Mingazov back to Russia

Ravil Mingazov was a successful ballet dancer and an officer in the Russian army. He tried to flee Russia with his family to avoid religious persecution for being Muslim. But he was captured in Pakistan, transferred to the US for a bounty and then sent to Guantánamo in 2002. He spent 15 years there. He was eventually ‘resettled’ by the US in the United Arab Emirates in 2017. But he’s been imprisoned there ever since. Why? Because he was unjustly locked up in Guantánamo.

Now, the United Arab Emirates wants to send ‘resettled’ men from Guantánamo home. But there is a problem: Ravil is from Russia. He could face harassment, jail, beatings or even death in the country he already tried to flee.
